Within the borders of South Australia we rear and grow some of the world’s finest produce, brew the freshest beers and unquestionably crush the best wines not just Australia, but the world, has to offer. At the Kings we have adopted the philosophy of “why bother selling anything else then?” We have pride in our state and we showcase the things that have made it great over the past 150 years. Be that a house made pie floater, the frog cake, a Farmers Union Iced Coffee or Beerenberg chutney we aim to deliver an experience unique to the CBD.

Dining at the Kings
The Kings proudly serves only 100% South Australian key produce. Why look beyond what is right under your nose to find the freshest and best quality produce to create simple South Australian cuisine?

Let us introduce your palate to venison from the Onkaparinga Valley, kingfish caught by some fella near Whyalla, a pie floater made from scratch right here in the building using ingredients like Clare Valley beef or Spear Creek lamb shanks, and of course the labour of kitchen love, crafting Pinnaroo spuds into freshly cut chunky chips every day of the year.

We also showcase iconic South Australian purveyors such as Beerenberg whose chutney accompanies the porterhouse, Maggie Beer whose ice cream fills our tartlets, Alexandrina Cheese Co whose cheddar turns golden over schnitzels and the O’Connell Street Bakery, whose bread rolls accompany your every meal.

The Kings Functions Better

Music and Entertainment
Music matters as much as anything else at the Kings. Focusing on bands, DJs and house tunes that you won’t hear in most other venues is our goal.

General Manager – Gareth Lewis
After being involved in numerous hotel takeovers and renovations both here an interstate Gareth takes the reins on the first investment project of his own. Adelaide born and bred (but having since done stints in Melbourne and Brisbane’s famed Fortitude Valley) Gareth drives our South Australian focus and aims to inject that into everything the Kings has to offer. Having managed a wide variety of venues from nightclubs to cafe’s he brings the experience needed to the table.

Head Chef - Sam Worrall-Thompson
Son of English celebrity chef extraordinaire Anthony Worrall-Thompson, Sam has moved from his early beginnings at the front of house in some of Adelaide’s leading bars and bistros to the man who delivers the food. He has produced a classic South Australian menu of larder favourites, fresh seafood, seasonal salads, premium grilled meats and delicious deserts. With the combined focus of the kitchen remaining firmly South Australian he is excited to work with the freshest and best ingredients on offer, delivering the customer an experience rarely seen in gastro-pubs.

Restaurant & Functions Manager – Mellissa Beaton
Melissa comes to us with a strong fine dining background (Farina and The Lane among her more recent stints) and takes control of the large volume of functions that pass through the venue. With a flair for customer service and a palate that can match a wine to any meal she makes you feel like your table is the only one in the room. Bar Manager – Aaron Sandow
Having cut his teeth behind the pine at arguably Adelaide’s busiest bar (Marble Bar) as a duty manager for the past 2 years, Aaron certainly knows how to mix a drink . . . fast. Not only fast but attentive to what you want he will create something that you never knew you would like and have you ordering them religiously. Don’t miss him in action each and every busy night of the week or let him design a cocktail specifically for your upcoming function.
